10 Easy Ways To Go Green on a Budget

I think it is a misconception that we need drastic changes or too much money to switch to an eco friendly lifestyle. I mean I can’t just pack my bags and move to a rural area or buy only organic foods or install solar panels and wind turbine or totally remodel my house. I’ve learned that we can make small changes in our daily routine and still live green and do good for our environment. Here are the 10 things I do, to live green on a budget.

  • When the sun is out, I open all the curtains and blinds. I try to use minimum artificial light throughout the day.
  • I plan my weekly meals in advance and buy groceries accordingly. This leads to less wastage & saves money.
  • I’ve developed this habit of using leftovers in next day’s meal. I watch many cooking videos to learn new ways to use leftovers.
  • I’ve started using the washing machine once a week to it’s full capacity. This saves time, water and efforts.
  • Now I don’t use plastic bags at all. I always carry my jute bag whenever I go shopping.
  • I buy reusable products and avoid one time use or disposable items.
  • I make sure to fix stuff whenever there is a leakage happening.
  • I use as many DIY skin and hair care products as possible.
  • I try to use AC as less as possible and while travelling by car, I try to keep the windows open.
  • Lastly I’ve started using pressure cooker to reduce cooking time & save LPG. And I don’t put empty cooker on the stove like Rashi Bahu lol.

So these are some little steps I’m taking in the direction of a sustainable lifestyle. I hope you’ll pick up one or two points and start following it too.

How To Fall Asleep Fast

Good sleep is extremely important. It helps you to wake up happy and your mind and brain works efficiently. Some people can fall asleep very easily. But others find it very difficult to sleep early and keep on tossing and turning on the bed.

Here are 6 simple ways to help you fall asleep as fast as possible.

  • Start writing before bed: If you struggle with sleeping early then it could be because of too many random thoughts. Your mind overthinks and start imagining different scenarios. The best thing to do is write down whatever you feel. It calms your mind and helps you to get relaxed.
  • Stay away from electronic devices: Using your gadgets before bedtime is terrible for sleep. Firstly, because they emit blue light and secondly, they keep your brain active and engaged. Switch off your electronic devices half an hour before sleeping.
  • Avoid taking naps during the day: As obvious as it may sound, but taking naps during the day, badly affects your sleeping pattern. Some studies show that taking naps, improve alertness and effectiveness of the brain. But if you suffer from poor sleep at night then avoid daily naps initially.
  • Practice meditation: It is highly recommended to try meditation for a good night sleep. Meditation can enhance melatonin levels which eventually helps the mind to be in a specific state where sleep is easily achieved.
  • Follow a schedule: Setting a sleep schedule really helps some people to sleep fast. When you wake up and sleep at the same time each day then your internal clock helps you to stick to a regular schedule.
  • Try aromatherapy: I’ve personally tried using essential oil diffuser with relaxing scent and it really helped me. Scents like lavender, peppermint, orange may help with relaxation and improve sleeping schedule.

I hope these tips help you to sleep better and wake up early.

5 Tips to Overcome Negative Thoughts

Everything is created twice, first in the mind and then in reality.

Robin S Sharma.

Thoughts, whether negative or positive, frame our whole day. Positive people also have Negative thoughts. They just don’t let those thoughts control them. I might seem happy and positive all the time, but I overthink a lot and struggle with negative thoughts almost every other day. Today I’m sharing some tips that help me whenever negative thoughts mess up my mind.

  • Tidy up your space: When your surroundings are untidy and messy, your mind automatically gets paralysed. It doesn’t feel like doing anything and everything seems like a big and difficult task. So just get up and clean your room. You’ll feel so much positive and relaxed.
  • Find what’s good: When you had a setback and everything seems negative then ask your mind to find one good thing about that situation or one thing that you can do differently the next time to likely have a better result.
  • Let it out & talk it over: Keeping it all bottled up won’t make things any better. Talk about your thoughts and have a heart to heart conversation with your family or close friends.
  • Identify & Replace negativity: What you feed your mind will affect your thoughts. Identify the sources of negativity. It could be people, social media, unhealthy diet, messed up sleeping cycle and so one. Find it and let it go.
  • Stop thinking about what people think because most of the times people don’t have that much time, attention and energy to think or talk about you. This realisation can set you free from your own mental trap & help you to start taking steps towards what you really want to do in life.

If you read it till the end then thank you so much. I wish you think more POSITIVE thoughts today 🙂

Here’s Why You Should Read Every Day

I’m sure you would have posted a Book quote on your social media at least once. But when was the last time you actually read a book? Are you one of those people whose reading habits revolve around tweets, FB updates, notifications & Instagram captions? Well, if that’s the case then keep on reading this blog. I’ll be sharing with you 5 reasons why you should read daily.

  1. Workout for Brain: Just like your body needs exercise to get fit and look good, similarly your brain needs daily exercise too. Reading does that for your brain. ‘Use it or lose it’ simple as that.
  2. Stress Reduction: A good book can transport you to a peaceful place and helps in achieving a calm mindset. No matter how your day was, when you pick up a motivational self-help book, it forces you to come out of the stressful & hopeless zone.
  3. Knowledge: Whenever you read a book, you learn something new. Each thing you learn, helps you in some way or the other. It could help your personal life, career, mindset, finances and what not!
  4. Improved Vocabulary: Whenever I read a book, I always keep a dictionary handy. Because it always teaches me new words which eventually improves my vocabulary. If you want to have good command over a language, start reading books written in that language.
  5. Better Conversations: Conversations get better because when you read you’ve so much knowledge to share and good command over language. People that read are respected and appreciated.

I’d be really happy if this post could motivate you to start reading. So try to get a book or two and start reading 🙂 bbye.

How to Plan your Day

Do you ever reach the end of the day and think “what the heck did I do for the whole day?” Do you want to achieve so much in life but couldn’t get out of bed and work for it? Do you stay busy all day yet couldn’t accomplish much?

If the answer to any of these questions is YES, then it is the high time to set your priorities and start planning your day. This post will give you 5 tips which will help you to plan your day effectively.

  1. Write it down: Pick up a pen and paper and write down what you want to get done today. When you put your goals on paper it signals the brain to prioritise the tasks and complete them. You can also use your phone to do that. Use NOTES app and make a list accordingly.
  2. Set realistic targets: While prioritising your daily tasks make sure that you set realistic targets. Initially keep your list easy and achievable. Keep on increasing the difficulty level, every week, by adding more tasks.
  3. Fix timelines: Preparing a timetable adds so much value to your daily planner. When you fix time for different tasks then your mind pushes your body to complete the tasks before the time runs out.
  4. Take breaks: Do not forget to take mini breaks while you’re working on your daily targets. Taking breaks increase the productivity manifold. But make sure you don’t take a break of more than 20 mins.
  5. Tick it off the list: Make it a habit to tick off the completed tasks. When you do so, the brain feels rewarded and eventually motivation level to complete the daily tasks goes up!

These are the 5 tips which I started following during my graduation days and I follow these tips even now. So give it a try and let me know if it works for you or not 🙂

How to fix your Sleep Schedule💤

From nationwide lockdown to unlock, we all have witnessed major lifestyle changes. Do you remember those times when we used to crave for weekends and crib about traffic, office, workload and what not!!???

Well, lockdown or unlock, most of us are facing the issue of disturbed Sleeping Schedule.

No matter how many alarm clocks ⏰ we use, our biological clock 🕰 refuses to reset itself. Eff you damn clock, grrrrr.

Those late night Netflix marathons & mindless scrolling eats up our good night sleep and we wake up all groggy, feeling anxious & irritable. Okay so enough of feeling bad, sad & mad about it. Let’s try to fix this issue.

Step no. 1

Fix a ‘ wake up time‘ according to your work, lifestyle & requirements. I wake up at 7 AM because that works well for me. It gives me ample time to read, meditate, make Snapchat stories, help with breakfast & get ready for the day by 9:30 AM.

Step no. 2

Keep your alarm clock aka your phone, at least 25 steps away from your bed. So when alarm clock will try to wake you up, your biological clock will be forced to cooperate. You’ll be finally out of that cozy bed.

Step no. 3

Always put a very soothing and calm alarm tone, ummmm, like chirping sound of birds or waterfall maybe. Don’t use weird sirens or dance numbers. Trust me, your brain needs calm environment & proper time to wake up.

Step no. 4

Always, I mean, ALWAYS, write down your plan for the next day before sleeping at night. A little TO-DO list will work✔️. Your mind would be happy and excited to wake up early.

Step no. 5

Keep a water bottle on your bedside table. Firstly, it’s a good omen. Yaaaa, I believe in such stuff. Secondly, most of the times our body feels dehydrated when we wake up and needs water intake to gather up the strength to keep up.

That’s it!! I hope you start sleeping well & wake up like a happy chirpy birdie.

Bye 👋🏼

5 things I want to lose in 2020

New year is here and I’m genuinely excited and looking forward to it. So obviously I made some New Year Resolutions, duh! But, this time I’m more focused on losing some things rather than gaining.

Hopefully I’ll get rid of these things by the end of the year.

Saying YES when I want to say NO

Last year, I’ve said YES to so many people & put myself in some events & situations that I absolutely hated. Saying yes, definitely makes other person feel good but eventually it brings so much dissatisfaction in our life.

Gossip Gobblers🗣👀👂🏼👤

Maturity is realising how many things don’t require your opinion.

Rohit Sharma unfollowed Virat Kohli😱. Akshay kumar & John Abraham are beefing over their film release🤔. Jordyn Woods is shading Kylie Jenner with her latest tattoo😒. James Charles is exposed by Tati Westbrook🤭 Tristan Thompson cheated on Khloe Kardashian again🙄

How many times have you read these gossip news & then passionately expressed your opinions on different social media platforms?? Well, I don’t know about you, but I’m guilty of sending tweets and posting insta-stories.

It’s is often said that Successful people discuss IDEAS & unsuccessful people discuss PEOPLE’

Effects of Negative Talk & Gossiping:-

  • It’s an utter waste of time and energy.
  • It gets very difficult to experience meaningful and non-judgemental relationships.
  • Gossiping is very addictive & eventually becomes a part of our personality.
  • We already make some preconceived notions about someone which prevents us from getting to know their real side.

We often read stories about Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Walt Disney, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Mukesh Ambani and we feel motivated. Who doesn’t want to be as successful as them!! I guess EVERYBODY wants to be rich, successful & most importantly HAPPY.

So whenever you feel tempted by the Gossip news or some chatpati talk about your friends or neighbours or colleagues; just remind yourself to sit with the winners & positive people, the conversation is different.🙂

With this affirmation, I’m saying GOODBYE.
